PLAINVILLE – Gerard J. Narold, 68, of Messenger Street died Thursday, February 22, 2008 in Sturdy Memorial Hospital on February 22, 2008.

Born August 2, 1939 in Holland, he was a son of Gerard Narold of Holland and the late Cornelia (Schneider) Narold.

Gerard grew up in Holland and spent six years in South America before joining the merchant marines at the age of 17. He has been a resident of Plainville since immigrating in 1962.

Mr. Narold retired from General Motors at age 63 after working as an assembler for over thirty years.

He enjoyed watching sports and hunting. He was also an avid fisherman, fishing any chance he could from ice fishing smelt in Maine to the Cape Cod Canal to small ponds.

His survivors include three sons, Gerard Narold of North Attleboro and Steven and Jeffrey Narold both of Plainville; three grandchildren, Christian Narold, Jadyn Narold and Tyler Giangrande.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, February 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the SPERRY & McHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro. A private burial will be held at a later date in Shepardville Cemetery, Plainville.

Steve, My heart goes out to you and your brothers. I know how much you all loved "Big Gerry". I have fond memories of him as just a big teddy bear that he always tried to hide under that rough and tough exterior. Please know you are all in my thoughts as you go through this difficult time.
