MALDA - Gerben Malda, age 88, of Jenison, passed away August 4, 2010. He is survived by his wife, Ann; daughter, and three grandchildren. Private graveside service was held at Rosedale Cemetery. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Sunset Manor Chapel, 725 Baldwin St., Jenison....

Dear Mrs. Malda,
Just heard the news of Gerben's joining those who've gone before him to his heavenly home. I have so many memories growing up and spending time with you and your family. Definitely miss those times-the smiles and cheer you shared with all those you met. You guys meant a lot to my parents-Christian friends in every way! My prayers are with you right now, Mrs. Malda. Ann,what a truly great christian man Gerben was. We know well how he often loved going door to door too talk with people about the lord,and not because he needed to for his salvation(he was without a doubt a saved man);but he loved the lord and he loved people,and he wanted to see everyone saved. He not only married us 25 yrs.ago ,but he was used by god to bring about our salvation ,and we suspect many others also. As a former member of West Leonard St. CRC nd a member of the "choir" that Bristol Chapel had during the sixties, I well remember Gerben as a man of God who lived what he believed.
