Gerda was a dear friend of of my mother, Sara House. It was the love of artist Daniel Mortiz Oppenheim that brought the two of them together. May Gerda rest in peace and may her memory be a blessing to all that knew her.

Just recently heard about Gerda's passing, I believe there have been very few people as strong, mentally & spiritually, as she was to survive what she did & still live so long. The first time I ever saw her was at the Academy Awards when she gave her acceptance speech (where she was almost cut off buy the music) I became a fan & admirer of her instantly & proceeded to buy all of her books over time.
