Kamrowski, Gerome Andre Breton, the founder of Surrealism, names Gerome Kamrowski as the most authentic of the American Surrealists and lauded him for the quality, originality, and experimentalism of his work. Robert Motherwell called Gerry the most Surrealist of us all. Kamrowski was born in...

Not sure what to say?

I remember the first time I met Gerry. I knew a very little about his art and as they say "a little knowledge can be dangerous". I guess I was expecting a more steriotypical "artist" type. Instead, here was this guy with short blonde hair who loved his beer and Michigan football. So there you'd be...watching the Rose Bowl, drinking a cold beer, a wonderful abstract painting on the wall and a copy of the "Dadaist Manefesto" sitting on the coffee table. He just looked like a guy that worked the...

Uncle Jerry was the most interesting relative I ever met. I loved his humor and his art. I have always been so proud to announce to people that "he is my Uncle!" I remember very vividly his marriage to Dear Aunt MaryJane. I was so excited that he gave me three new cousins that lived in our state! (NOT Minnesota like most all of the others!) I miss Uncle Jerry and Aunt MaryJane's Sunday drives out to the "country" when they would stop in and visit with me. They always brought blocks of special...

Uncle Gerry was a really unique person. He cut straight to the chase, and cut through the silly banter. He told me to go after whatever I really wanted to do in life. I'm so glad I got to meet him and see his wonderful paintings, especially his 40's work, I call them his globular work(glawbular, not glowbular).
The world will miss his wit and charm.
