Gertrude Nettles Baker transitioned into eternity August 14, 2015 in Mobile, AL. Mrs. Baker was a distinguished educator in this city for more than 40 years. She was predeceased by her parents, The Reverend Doctor and Mrs. Abraham Nettles, her husband, Karl A. Baker, and her brother, George H. Nettles.

Cherishing her memories are her daughter, Karla A. Baker, and her siblings: Abraham Nettles and family, Marshall Nettles and family, Esther Rauch and family, Patricia Clay and family, Eileen Bell and family, and Jerrell Nettles and family.

All services will be held at Toulminville-Warren United Methodist Church, 2271 St. Stephens Road, Mobile, AL. Visitation will be on August 21, 2015 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. Viewing will be from 9:00 am until the funeral hour at 11:00 am Saturday, August 22, 2015.

Thank you Ms. Baker for you time, guidance, encouragement, support, talent, and financial resources that you shared with me as a young student aspiring to become an educator! May you truly rest in Heaven

My condolences to the family. She lived a meaningful life touching many young lives including my own and that won't be forgotten.

God bless the entire Nettles and Baker family. Mrs. Baker was truly a pioneer of her time and will be truly missed. Thank God he hears every prayer!

To the Nettles and Baker Family,my deepest sympathy and prayers are with you.I grew up in Lilly Baptist Church,and received my Salvation ,and was baptized by Dr. Nettles. To all the siblings,be strong in the Lord ,and he will truly see you through. Patricia and I were classmates,and I would love to hear from you.
