I remember when she attended Hampton University while still employeed at the VA, which inspired me to attend and complete college while working too. The first time our family met Gertrude was in 1976 at my Dad's auction. From that point on, she was part of our family. She was full of life, funny and a joy to be around. She loved our auctions and yard sales and loved "bidding" wars for that special treasure.
When my father passed away in 2000, Gertrude came to our house to pay her respects. Her driver was a little skeptical, but we ran out of the house and hugged her tightly. Love has no boundaries!
