COLES, Mrs. Gertrude, of Richmond, departed this life April 28, 2009. She is survived by her husband, Samuel Coles Sr.; one son, Samuel Coles Jr; one grand-daughter, Saida Coles; one sister, Alease Phillips; one brother, James Miles; one aunt, Rozella Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; one sister-in-law, Martha Miles; and other relatives and friends, among them one devoted, Denise Lovick. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Funeral services will be held Saturday, 12 noon, at Mt. Pero Baptist Church in Powhatan, where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time. Rev. Patrick Bland, pastor, officiating. Interment Mt. Pero Baptist Church Cemetery. We were all blessed to have know Gertrude. She was an example of strenght, dignity, dedication to family and friends. She had a love of the beauty in nature. She was the best of the human spirit. We will miss her but will never forget her. We grieve with you.
