Rochester- GERTRUDE TINKER DAVIS, widow of Beverly H. Davis, Rochester, NH, and recently of Riverside Rest Home, Dover, NH, passed away peacefully there with her family at her side on Sunday, January 28, 2007.
Gertrude was born on October 23, 1911, in Dover, NH, to Harry A. and
Mattie Blaisdell Tinker. She grew up in Dover and graduated from Dover High
in 1929. She proudly attended UNH for two years, leaving thereafter to work
in a Dover bank due to the tough economic times.
On May 20, 1937, she married Beverly H. Davis of Rochester, where she
lived for the next 70 years. She had two daughters and was bookkeeper for
her husband's plumbing and heating business. She was an active
member of the First United Methodist Church, a former Sunday School teacher,
and will be fondly remembered as excellent apple pie maker for the
church booth at the Rochester Fair. She was a proud member of several
organizations, including the Rebekah's, the Past Noble Grands Assn., the
Rochester and Pomona Granges, and the Order of Eastern Star. She was always
accessible to her children and grandchildren with her
intellectual care and guidance and devoted love. She was a skilled knitter
and quilter and leaves a treasure of family heirlooms for her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Brunner and husband Richard of
Foxboro, MA, and Phyllis DiPrizio and husband Prisco C. of Rochester, NH;
her four grandchildren, Janet DiPrizio and husband Angelo
DeSimone of Mirabella, Italy, Peter DiPrizio and wife Susan of Rochester,
NH, Gretchen Brunner of Acton, MA, and Susan Uhlhorn and husband Eric of
Miama, FL; six great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband and her parents, she was predeceased by her
brother Charles Tinker and her sister Dorothy Gagner.
Friends and family may call at Edgerly Funeral Home, 86 S. Main Street,
Rochester, NH, on Wednesday, January 31, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 1, 2007, at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the spring.
