Gib Shanley

I meet Gib at a Rite Aid in Brecksville in the 80s. I was a assistant manager at the store and was ringing register. The Indians had two players on Sports Illustrated I asked Gib about the S.I. Jinx it has on players who are on the cover.
He said I dont believe in jinxs. I told him I was on the cover now look I am a assistant at Rite Aid. He smiled

Jan, sincerest condolences on Gib's passing. As you know, I treasured Gib and the many years he elevated the spirits of this sports fan with his incomparable voice, style, and wit. He is missed by many of us who so fondly treasure memories of the good old days. Kermit

I attended Shadyside schools with Gib, altho I was 2 years ahead of him. I have followed his carrier. our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Jan....deepest sympathies to you and Gib's family. Debby and I will treasure the good times we shared together. Gib may be gone but will certainly not be forgotten. He was the very best at his craft and I was privileged to have the opportunity to share the Browns radio booth with him. He's having a corned beef on rye with Nate and listening to Nev imitate Nate...they must be laughing out loud. Rest in peace Gib.

As an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, I truly appreciated Gib's talents and his matter-of-fact ways of describing all the happenings in Cleveland sports. The entire sports community in this region will miss him. I assure his family of my thoughts & prayers.
