"Remembering Mr. Benson. I work at Mary's Woods Environmental Services Department and had the Pleasure of doing work orders for Him. He was always in a good mood to Me , I do remember leaving His place there was a Jackalope over the door. ..RIP Mr.Benson

Tom made it possible for so many of us students to go out and see the the geology of remarkable places. His river rafting trips were memorable--and so much fun. Those were certainly happy years for us all.

Dr. Benson was the "go to guy" every time there was an earthquake or any volcanic activity in the Cascades. He was a wealth of knowledge and very much appreciated by us media folks. Thanks Gil for always being there!

In 1965 I was a scared Freshman in the Upward Bound program at the U of O in Eugene, OR. I was very discouraged and ready to drop out, when Dr.Benson talked me into staying in college. I had a huge crush on him! I followed his advice and finished college and also, completed a MS degree. He believed in me when I wasn't able to believe in myself. I will never forget him. Thank you Dr.B! Katy Gallagher

Dr. Benson was fantastic! He WAS the Geology Department at P.S.U. I'll never forget his classes in the early 70's and wish I could have been there in 1980 when Mt. St. Helen's erupted - to share in his wonder and joy.
