Not sure what to say?

I tried emailing and calling you today. I hadn't realized it was Jan 2021 when we last communicated. At the time, you mentioned your recovery from surgery and your stepmother's passing. You have always been in my thoughts and prayers and today, I am shocked and deeply saddened to learn you are no longer with us. You were a wonderful advisor and mentor to me at P.C. and my friend. Your passion for all things Portuguese...language, culture, history and genealogy inspired my own interests...

Think of you often, Gil. Felt so bad that I didn´t find out that you had passed. Last time we spoke was at Christmas 2020. Never forget you and the important role you played in my life. Rest In Peace my friend e um abraço until we meet again.

So saddened today when I learned of my dear friend, college professor and mentor Dr. Cavaco passing in March. A good and decent man with him I kept in contact with since my days back at Providence College 1971. We spoke back at Christmas. I feel so sad that I did not hear of his passing. He would have celebrated his 88th birthday just last Sunday. I always remembered his birthday and sent him a card every year. A good and decent man who I was blessed to know. Rest In Peace good friend. You...

During our retirement years we would get in touch once or twice a year. I respected Gil very much for his intelligence, his honesty and...

Gil was my adviser for Portuguese at PC. Our friendship continued for the next 45 years. My he rest in peace now that his long illness is in the past. Peter

We enjoyed knowing Gil for many years. He will be remembered fondly as a quiet man with a gentle sense of humor and a kind word for all. Our condolences to Gils family.

I graduated from Providence College in the same year as Gil did and I remember how kind a person he was. May he rest in peace.
