Not sure what to say?

I am sorry that I was not able to attend the service on Tuesday because of a health appointment. I worked with Joe when he was with the Portland Public schools where I was serving as a School Principal. He was a true Professional with wise support for students and staff alike. I will miss him. My thoughts go to the family.

My parents were friends of Joe and Delores at St. Agatha's Church & met monthly in a couples group, Cana Club.

While reading the obituary I learned of the family grocery store on First & Arthur. My father, Walter Hohenleitner, was born in his family home located on First & Arthur in 1906. I wonder if Joe & Walter ever happened to discuss this coincidence. What a small world we live in!

My dad passed away shortly after his 91st birthday, just as Joe did. These men both...

I was one of the "long-haired younger generation" who came along in the Seventies and worked for Joe at Catholic Family Services. Joe was always kind and supportive. I attribute my career as a non-profit executive in large part to the opportunity he gave me to work as the administrative person for Catholic Family Services in the mid-Seventies. I greatly appreciated hearing more about his life during today's eulogy. My prayers and warm wishes to the family

We know Joe through his son, Frank, and his family. We saw Joe often as he came for visits and to get the grandkids for outings.

Always friendly, with a jolly nature, it was evident to us that he was the greatest grandpa in the world.

He made a big difference in the world and will be missed by many.

Joe was my best friend. He was our Seaside neighbor and we grew to know each other after sharing the fireworks from our street one year. We had many trips togehter to and from Seaside to Portland, most recently in my Smart car, which Joe got a kick out of riding in. Joe allowed me to help him as age and Parkinson's made things more difficult. I can hear him ask "What should we do?" and then we would talk and solve the barrier. So much to say. There is not a place in Seaside I will go that...

One of God's favorite people. You had a wonderfull life, you were a good friend and may you rest in peace.

As a child growing up in Southwest Portland, living on 1st and Arthur, my family was a customer at the Colistro store. I believe there was a partner then by the name of Halpern. Not sure of the spelling. I'm sorry that it takes a loss to bring out a good memory. My prayers are with the family. Lynn Harold Asher
