Not sure what to say?

Connie and family: I was speaking with Bud Klein today and he informed me that Butch had died. I am so sorry for your loss. I was at Lake Station (East Gary) right out of college in 1973 and Butch gave me my first coaching position. I will always remember him as being bigger than life. He had such a way with kids. I moved from East Gary in 1976 and went to Linton, Indiana. I became a head football coach in 1980 and used many things that Butch taught me about the game. My prayers go...

Even though many years have gone by since I had "Mr. Hamilton" as a teacher (6th grade at Bailey Elem. and again as my high school typing teacher)I can still see his smile and the laugh that always accompanied it. I remember the day he told me he would never be able to teach me to type. I don't know if he ever knew it, but I went on to become a business teacher myself. I can only hope I was as good at it as he was.

My condolences to everyone, Treasure...

To the family of Gil Hamilton, Jill and I wish to express sympathy for the loss of Gil. He was liked and respected as a teacher and coach. Everyone enjoyed his great sense of humor. Your family is in our prayers.

Connie and Family: Gil and I coached together at Portage and he was a big help to me as a young coach. He was a friend and fellow teacher. He will be missed by a lot of people. My family's thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family at this time of need.

Connie,

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this most difficult time. I'll truly miss Gil. He brought such joy and laughter with him the minute he walked in the Athletic Office door.

Connie & Family....My deepest sympathy in the passing of your husband and father. I always had the utmost respect for Gil as a coach and a friend. I will remember him in my prayers. May God give your strength in this time of bereavement.

Dad we will miss you greatly.

I am a close friend of Jeff Hamilton and always considered "Uncle Butch" as my uncle. The time we shared were times of great fun and joy. He will be missed.
