Dr. Hanson was my professor for numerous geology classes as well as my mentor through undergraduate and graduate school at SBU. He was dedicated to his profession, the university, the earth science department, the students, and his family. The impact he had on so many will be his legacy .

Professor Hanson, a great geologist and mentor. He made a significant impact on my life and inspired my love of geology. I will remember the field trips and time we spent working together. Thank you for always pushing me and believing in me. You will be greatly missed.
