Gilbert F. "Gil" Walter, 62, of Stroudsburg, PA passed away Saturday, April 2nd, at his residence.


Gil was born in Newton, NJ on March 31, 1960, a son of the late Gilbert F. and Juanita (Schick) Walter.


He was the husband of LuAnn (Plotts) Walter. They celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary last October. Gil was a 1978 graduate of Sussex County Votech in Sparta, NJ. He was the Owner and Operator of Affordable Lock and Safe in Stroudsburg, PA, for over 30 years. He served in the U.S. Navy. Gil was a member of the Portland Masonic Lodge 311 F&AM. Gil enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time outdoors.


In addition to his loving wife LuAnn, Gil is survived by two sons Patrick Howarth, husband of Julie, and Matthew Walter, husband of Megan, three daughters, Shannon Howarth, Jessica Walter-Milam, wife of Alex, and Kristina Adkins, wife of Scott, a brother, Fred Walter, and 7 grandchildren Gaven, Katelyn, Kylee, Cameron, Collin, McCoy, and Ryker.


A Celebration of life gathering will be held from 1 - 4 PM on Sunday, April 10th at the East Bangor Fire Co. Social Hall, 30 E. Central Ave. East Bangor, PA 18013. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Gaffney Parsons Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., "Village of Johnsonville" Bangor, PA. Online condolences may be offered at gaffneyparsons.com.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Portland Masonic Lodge 311 F&AM, PO Box 381, Portland, PA 18351.

Fair Winds and Following Seas shipmate. I've known LuAnn Walter most of my life but never had the honor or privilege of meeting Gil. But, as a Navy Vet, I wish peace and healing for the entire family.

On behalf of my family, our sincere heartfelt condolences to your family in this time of sadness. Gil was a great man and will always be remembered for his impact on not only me but also the Masonic and Slate Belt communities.

I was saddened to hear of Gil's passing. May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

LuAnn & Family, there are no words, to ease the pain. Know in your hearts, that Gil will forever be watching over you. The fight is over. His pain is gone. His job here was done. I'm so sad to hear of Gil passing away. My sincere sympathy to you and your family. Gil was a big part of Sussex County VoTech with our Class of 1978. A star football player, star wrestler, voted Most Athletic, our Class President and more. We will All miss such a valuable player in our lives. May he always be remembered. May you and your family treasure the memories that most fill your hearts with Joy.
