I have many fond personal memories of Dr Battistone at the US Army Institute of Dental Research, especially of the stories and memories he told as a teen at Gonzaga. Always a calm and welcoming advisor with an interesting perspective, his opinion was of value to many. He was a person who will always stand out when we remember those we knew when. Deep sympathy to his "girls".

So sad to hear the news. 55 years ago, Dr. Battistone volunteered to take on a bunch of teenagers at St. John Baptist de la Salle church and turn them into actors. We had immense respect for his leadership, good humor and tolerance (and we put on a bunch of pretty good performances as well).
