Every time I'm in Chicago I have the privilege of recalling the times I spent with Gitta. Driving on LSD, passing her neck of the woods, always brings me back to when I was nurse at Children's Memorial in the late nineties and early 2000's and I met Gitta as she volunteered in the NICU. Being Jewish myself and without family in the area, Gitta and I joined forces to attend High Holiday services together one year. I was lucky, too, to have had time to see her in her element- the Theater scene!...

My dear Gitta, I will miss seeing your face but i will always remember our good times talking as you held our little patients in the NICU at Childrens Memorial Hospital/ Lurie Children's Hospital. I will think of you every time i bite into an apple strudel from L. Woods, or see a play, or when i have a patient who could use some loving arms to help soothe them. Thank you, Gitta, for the wonderful memories!
