Gladys D. Crump

Redfield: Gladys D. Crump, 94, of Redfield, SD, died Sunday, February 13, 2011, at Eastern Star Home in Redfield.

Her funeral will be Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. Reverend Stephen Perry will officiate.

Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 1-8 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home.

Gladys was born February 15, 1916, on the family farm near Redfield, to Thomas and Addie (Deiter) Reynolds. She attended country school and married Elijah Crump on September 18, 1936. They farmed near Redfield for many years before retiring in 1966. They continued living on the farm for several more years. Elijah died in 1971 and Gladys moved into Redfield in 2000.

Gladys enjoyed sewing, playing cards and dancing.

She was a member of the Lucky 13 Club and Pioneer Community Club.

Gladys is survived by her daughter, Reita Dobson of Redfield, and two sons: Dale (Kim) Crump of Rapid City, SD, and Robert Thomas Crump of Huron, SD. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Renea (Robyn) Van Bockel and their children Randy, Rebecca and Ryan; and Danielle and Brittany Crump.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Elijah in 1971, an infant brother, her grandson Randy and her sister Ada Nicholaysen.
