Not sure what to say?

I just decided to put on a piece of wearable art that Gladys custom made for me 15 or so years ago. My friend and I met her at CEA convention in Denver, where she was crocheting to pass the time. We struck up a conversation and learned that she made these to sell. We each placed an order with her, and after several months, they showed up in the mail. She trusted us to pay after we received them. I then asked for two more, with different color schemes and as before, they would appear. ...

Whether as a First Presbyterian Church encounter 60 years ago or a neighborhood visit in the 2000´s Gladys always made me feel the focus of her attention. In the last few years we had the chance to talk about teaching and schools and kids, passions we both shared. Meredith, my condolences on your mother´s passing, but treasure the many memories of happier times.

Meredith, I was so sad to hear of your Mom's passing. We only met a few times, but I remember her as such a sweet lady. There was also a bit of sass to her, from some stories you told me, and I just thought she was wonderful! I know she lived a very full life and it was obvious that her family was the most important thing to her. Our thoughts and prayers to you all-

I first met Gladys as a young instrumental music teacher at Columbus where she graciously shared her room when I had lessons with fourth and fifth grade students. After I retired I found a new enjoyment when she taught me to weave in the Navajo way. She inspired me to learn other weaving methods and through her I met many inspiring weavers and took us on several great trading post trips. She was a born teacher and I treasure what she shared with me. She will be missed.

Gladys was one of my weaving mentors and a great friend. She taught me so much and was always game for a weaving road trip. I´m a better person today for having known her. I will always remember her beautiful spirit. Thank you Meredith for taking such good care of her.

What a beautiful lady! Gladys was such a bright spot during my teaching career in Mesa County. Always willing to share her thinking about success both in and out of the classroom. Although I have never had opportunity to meet Steve, I was fortunate to work alongside both Meredith and Gladys during our many pursuits with MVEA. My deepest condolences to you and your family. Gladys has left behind many beautiful memories.
