A 1949 graduate of Pen Argyl High School she went onto become a member of the IILGWU. A sewing machine operator who could almost sew a zipper in with her eyes closed. Although prior factories did exist, Gladys was employed by Mike Russo & Son and again with Hilda Bet Blouse both on Main Street in Pen Argyl. A new time an hire became relevant as she became a Floor Lady at the newly opened J.D.M. Sportswear in Johnsonville, which at that time, our family relocated to the homestead our Mother resided in till the Lord called her home to rest. Not one in the same today, for she found a new love, rebuilding her home from the floor up. Finding employment during an after her divorce at Majestic Athletics where she was a sample maker, while she ever so struggled over the pocket welt!! Finally purchased and became sole proprietorship of Jackie's till semi-retirerment. Then came McDonald's, a Wal-Mart Greeter and most recently Weis food Markets followed. Our loving hard-working Mother deserves to rest in peace. Converting to Catholicism she received Confirmation alongside her three children in Father Michael Melley's Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Parish. Not sure what to say?

JoDena,
Before your parents bought my property, across from the factory, I remember your Mother at the mill before and after I went to Allegheny Beef. I'd visit with her and stop the machine from running. Still neighbors after all these years!

Gladys will be missed. She watched Marissa & Sarina grow up and became part of their lives. We were always happy to see Gladys and Aunt Nancy come to all of the performances at the school. They were two peas in a pod, always smiling and making us laugh. Forever in our thoughts and prayers.

Gladys I will always remember you dearly ,you were like a mom to me.

So sorry to here of your mothers passing. I had stopped to see her this passed summer on my way to the campground. She was out on her riding mower mowing the grass. We had a nice time laughing about old times and about her nephew Kenny. It was nice to see how happy she was. I will always remember our trips to Phila. and our birthday dinners. She will be missed. God be with you all.

I was so devastated when I heard the passing of Gladys aka Jackie. We loved her so much at Weis and she was such a joy to work with. She brought life and happiness when she was around. She was known as my "Number 1" and my little Sunshine. I used to tell her she was my work grandmother. I loved her dearly and it is such a shame that she is gone. We all love and miss you so dearly "Jackie"!! we will remember you till the end..xoxoxo

RIP Mother

My dear JoDena, my heart goes out to you. Sending my love and prayers to you and yours. Your Mother is with The Lord now. May she rest in peace. I'm here if you need me, JDR. You know I love you.
