Something told me to look up Dr. Earthman - I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. He was my first doctoral advisor at Virginia Tech, and a member of my dissertation committee. He was always someone I could go to when I needed some straight, no-frills advice about handling the political ins and outs of my dissertation process. One special memory: I was in charge of planning a meeting, which involved having 30 or so doctoral students at the Roanoke campus come in for meetings with the faculty....
