HOOKER, Glen - Of Grand Blanc, age 78, died Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Steve Wood officiating. Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to the Old News Boys. Visitation 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. A Masonic Service will be conducted under the auspices of Hugh McCurdy Lodge #381, New Lothrop at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Glen was born in Flint, Michigan on April 22, 1933 and was a resident of the Flint area. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Mr. Hooker married Ardena Karch on April 19, 1952. He was a member of the Hugh McCurdy Lodge #381, New Lothrop, Bay City Consistory 32nd Degree; member of Elf Khurafeh Shrine Center AAONMS, American Legion and Shrine Oriental Band. He was an Associate Member of Blue Star Mothers of America. Mr. Hooker retired from GM SPO in 1995, after 38 years of service as an Electrician. Surviving are wife, E. Ardena; four children, Benny (Ruth), Glenda (Bob) Bell, Lynne (Gus) Conway and Scott (Lois); 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nephew, Rodger (Beverly)and former son-in-law, Allen Murray. Ardena, I was shocked when looked at the Flint Journal obituarities online and saw Glen's name. Bill and I always felt so blessed that we had great neighbors on both sides of our house. Anne on one side and you and Glen on the other. The first time that Bill went over to your house and introduced himself - he came back with something electrical and I knew then that they would be buddies.
