Glen Forrest Kerr
Birch Run, MI
Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather died on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Wellspring Lutheran Services of Frankenmuth. Glen was born to loving parents Martin and Mary (Forrest) Kerr in Taymouth Township, Birch Run, and lived a long and active life of 101 years. He attended rural schools during early childhood and graduated from Birch Run High School in 1933 at age 16. He was the last living member of his graduating class.
Glen was a graduate of Central State Teachers College (CMU) and the University of Michigan and followed a public school teaching career.
Glen married Ivah McIntosh, his high school sweetheart, on August 5, 1937. She survives him. They have resided their lifetime in the Birch Run area (Taymouth Township)
Glen was a faithful member of St. Lorenz Lutheran church in Frankenmuth. Glen loved music. He sang in a choir from age fifteen and was a member of the St. Lorenz Male Choir until almost age 90. He also sang for several years in the Kingsman Quartet and the Norton Male Chorus of Flint. Both he an Ivah enjoyed playing their violins.
Glen served in public education for 40 years both in classroom teaching and administration retiring in 1975 from the Beecher Public Schools. Following retirement from public education, Glen was elected to serve four terms as Taymouth Township Supervisor, from 1976 until 1988.
Besides his wife, Ivah, Glen is survived by one daughter, Jeanne Marie (Robert) Moore and one son, Glen Thomas (Tom) (Joannie) Kerr both of Frankenmuth. Grandchildren: Mark Moore of Camas, Washington; Paul (Pamela) Moore, Birch Run, MI; Kelly Kerr, Frankenmuth, MI; Karri (Gary) Darling, Fenton, MI; and Great-Grandchildren, Christopher Kerr, Caleb Kimsel, Alexis Moore, Abigail Darling, Ryan Moore, and Lindsey Moore; One brother, Jack E. Kerr of Frankenmuth.
Glen was preceded in death by infant son James Martin Kerr and sister Annabelle Periard.
