Glen Edward Newton

I knew Glen for a very long time. He had many friends and acquaintances here in Bloomington/Normal. I am a lifelong resident and retired teacher and I know how very much appreciated Glen was for his kindness, patience, and devotion to this community as he served as teacher, principal, loyal Wesleyan alum and chair of The Brotherhood Tree for many years. In retirement he worked at The Law and Justice Center for Judge Freese. My husband became acquainted with Glen as a fellow court clerk. ...

I will always remember Mr. Newton as the best principal ever. All three of my boys went to Oakland and were lucky enough to have him as a their principal. He was kind, gentle, tough when needed but ALWAYS ended any needed discipline with kind words and a level of individual caring for children that was just amazing. He was the epitome of what a good educator and a good man should be. He will be greatly missed but know that he made a positive impact on thousands of lives.
