Glen D. Smith, 92, of Delphi, passed away Wednesday-August 11, 2021 at 9:40am at IU Health White Memorial Hospital in Monticello, after a brief illness. He was born June 12, 1929 in Flora, to the late Huss & Mattie Storey Smith. His marriage was to Ruby I. Houser on June 5, 1953 at the Hickory Grove Church, and she preceded him in death on August 31, 2018. He attended school in Burlington. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, and after being honorably discharged, he was a member of the Indiana National Guard. He worked for the former C.W. Shank Plumbing & Heating in Delphi, and then owned Smith Heating & Plumbing in Delphi for several years. He then worked at the former Peters-Revington Furniture Factory in Delphi for over 25 years, retiring from there. He enjoyed country music, and he and his family attended many concerts of their favorite country singing musicians. He and his wife enjoyed going to flea markets, playing solitaire, and they loved to watch the Indianapolis Colts play football. He dearly loved his family, and enjoyed being with them for any occasion. Surviving: son-Tony D. Smith of Delphi. 12 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, & 8 great great grandchildren survive. He was preceded in death by a daughter Trudy, 2 son's Michael & Randy, a daughter in law Kathleen, 3 sister's, & 4 brother's. Services: The family will receive friends Monday from 4pm to 7pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Private family committal at Pleasant Run Cemetery, Delphi.
