'My Mountain Man'

Glenn Thompson loved to be outdoors. He hiked. He fished. He biked. He skied. He climbed Mount Kilimanjaro. And last October, on a mountain pass in the Colorado Rockies, he got down on his knees in the snow (he was wearing shorts) and asked Kai Wittmann to marry him. Mrs. Thompson, as she became when they married in April, has the altitude -- 11,820 feet -- engraved in her engagement ring.

Glenn, 44, worked at Cantor Fitzgerald on the 104th floor of 1 World Trade Center. While he enjoyed the camaraderie and the adrenaline rush of trading, Kai said, his work was really a means to an end. His dream was to retire early and move to Colorado. ''He was my mountain man,'' Kai said. ''He was a bond trader and damn good at it. But his heart and soul were outdoors.''

Not sure what to say?

I was in deep thought one day mulling over whether to attend my 50th High School Graduation Reunion VSC Class of 1975 and remembered I played organized basketball with Glenn for 3 years why that came to my mind I have no answer RIP you are certainly not forgotten

I heard your name called out yesterday along with the other names that were lost way too soon. Some tears were shed. One person standing there reading names said something to the fact of this. Time is suppose to heal all wounds, but time has not healed this one. To me this has been quite true. You are missed

Another year and more tears. For some reason this year seems harder than some of the others. I guess add in the pandemic and I don't get to the memorial anymore as a mater of fact I don't go anywhere.. Well I'm thinking about you Glen, and memories are as hard to go over in my head as it is to think of your life coming to an end in such a tragic way, while knowing how much joy you had for life. I am just so sad for your family and friends that go on day to day without your presence

Miss you old friend. ❤ Jane

I think of you every anniversary. Always a hard day. Many people think of you from Valley Stream. We went to Wheeler together. Dennis I read your posts. So sorry to hear of Glenn's parents passing.

Kai and family, You don´t know us. We didn´t know Glenn, but we took our then 11 year old to the memorial in 2019 and she gently reached out to trace the letters of Glenn´s name. We have strong family ties to Colorado and the mountains so when I read Glenn´s memorial I knew that his name stood out to her for a reason. God bless you all on this 20th anniversary and every day. May your pain be eased knowing that others continue to remember those we lost that terrible day.

Well I am back, they just said your name at the 9/11 memorial. Missed last year lot going on. My job retired me and I was a little lost. This year is quite an interesting one with social distancing and all. I am watching the memorial on TV, and when your name comes up I get very emotional. Any way I have fond memories of us as young kids when our families would would get together
Thinking of you
Your Cousin
