Erickson, Glenn Charles 87, of Bloomington, died 9/26/08. Preceded in death by parents, Gilbert and Sophie, first wife, Marie, and brothers, Chester and Kenneth. Survived by wife, Audrey; sister, Doris; five sons, Brian (Linda), Paul (Kari), Mark, Dale, Gene (Laurie); stepdaughter, Shawn (Mike) and 12 grandchildren. Glenn was a graduate of Proctor High School and the Dunwoody Institute. He served in the US Army in Europe during WWII with the 125th Field Artillery Unit. After returning he worked as a draftsman for the Scott-Graf Co. in Duluth, until moving to the Twin Cities in 1954. He worked as an inspector for FHA and later as a member of the cost estimation dept of HUD until his retirement in 1975. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, boating and traveling. He was very active with The Boy Scouts while his boys were young. Glenn bowled each year in the fall league until 1969 when at the "end of the season tournament" he bowled a perfect game, after which he promptly quit bowling. Glenn was an active member of the Minnetonka Power Squadron, taught Celestial Navigation and was a prolific boat builder culminating with a 50 foot long sailboat, built in his backyard in Bloomington, launched in Lake City, motored down the Mississippi and sailed in the Caribbean. He returned to Bloomington where he eventually met and married his loving wife Audrey. Glenn was a gentle, easygoing man, who loved his family, friends and especially his grandchildren. Memorial service Friday 11am at Transfiguration Lutheran Church, France Ave. & 110th St. in Bloomington. Private internment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials preferred to the Alzheimer's Association or Transfiguration Lutheran Church.
