VanVOLKENBURG, Glenn J. - Of Flushing, formerly of Flint, age 77, died Friday, March 28, 2003 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Memorial service will be held at 1PM Wednesday, April 2, 2003 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Doug Klein officiating. Burial of cremains will follow at Crestwood Cemetery with a military graveside service under the auspices of Chevrolet VFW Post #3087 Honor Guard. Mr. VanVolkenburg was born in Ionia, Michigan on October 23, 1925, the son of the late Glenn and Eva VanVolkenburg and was a resident of the Flint area all of his life. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Lillian Devers on July 26, 1945 in Flint. He was a member of UAW Local #659 and was a member of Chevrolet VFW Post #3087.Mr. VanVolkenburg retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. Surviving are wife, Lillian; 6 children, David, Joanne, Sharon, Suzanne, Richard and Tony; 21 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Cleo, Bill and Earl; sister, Geanetta; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Violet.
