Glenn R. Yingling went from Life to Life Eternal on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at Manor Care Dallastown at the age of 88. He was the husband of Jeanne V. (Baughman) Yingling of Dallastown whom he married on January 12, 1952, celebrating 65 years together.
He was born in Union Township on June 18, 1929 and was the son of the late Wallace and Dorothy (Croumer) Yingling. Glenn worked for the former Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board as an Enforcement Officer, which later become part of the State Police from where he retired after 27 years of service. He graduated from the former Eichelberger High School, Class of 1947, in Hanover, and then went into the United States Navy, serving during the Korean War. He was one of the survivors of the Nuclear Atomic Radiation, and was a member of the American Legion Post #534 of Red Lion as well as the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1446 in Red Lion. He was also a member of the PARSE.
Besides his wife, Jeanne, he leaves his two children, Glenda J. Axsom and husband, Ronald of Carlisle and Eric D. Yingling and Cheryl High of York. He has four grandchildren, Mari Grafstrom (James), Emily Axsom, Megan Yingling and Neil Yingling; and three great-grandchildren, Leigha Grafstrom, Chloe Grafstrom and Dylan Grafstrom. Glenn was preceded in death by his daughter, Autumn J. Yingling, on November 6, 2014.
There will be no viewing. Cremation will take place with Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A Graveside Service to Honor and Praise Glenn will be on Wednesday, August 23, at 1 p.m. at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are requested to meet at the front entrance. Full military rites will be offered by the York County Veterans Honor Guard followed by the service with the Rev. Thomas R. Osenbach, pastor of Bethlehem/Springvale United Methodist Charge officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered to the York County Veterans Honor Guard, c/o Harold Redding, PO Box 712, Mt. Wolf, PA 17347.
