Glenora Smith Obituary

SAN ANGELO Glenora "Nanaw" Smith, 83, of San Angelo left on the wings of angels on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011. Her sister, Rita Worthey, her granddaughter, Dianna Spieker and niece Dana Landry were by her side when her angels came to take her home. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, at Johnson's Funeral Home. Service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18 in Johnson's chapel. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. Glenora was born Nov. 7, 1927, in League City, Texas, to Edgar Dumas and Claudine (Guest) Wade. She was a member of Grace Temple Baptist Church in Dallas and a resident of San Angelo since 1996. Glenora lived her life to the fullest, as a mother, wife, sister, aunt, "nanaw", as an original roller derby queen, waitress and security guard. Always keeping her family/ friends close to her heart. Those that loved her knew her to be stubborn and opinionated, but loving. She was married to R.L. Smith on Nov. 25, 1957, in Dallas, Texas. He preceded her in death on Nov. 30, 1992. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son Richard Bradshaw; and her niece, Faith Guillory. Survivors include her sister, Rita Worthey and husband Armando Padilla of Poteet; granddaughter Dianna Spieker and husband David and their son, Bo Spieker, all of San Angelo; niece Dana Landry and husband Teague; great-nieces Taylor Whitmire, all of Bay Cliff; Lacie Latham and husband Michael; great-nephew Denton Whitmire, all of Crosby; great-niece Summer Guillory; great-nephews T.J. and Dustin Guillory, all of Beaumont; grandson Eric Bradshaw and wife Leslie and their children, Maddi and Lexi Bradshaw, all of Indiana; stepdaughter Jackie Wolf and husband David of San Angelo; grandson Dewayne Wolf and wife Denise of Colorado; great-grandchildren Justin, Seraiah, Jacob, Jarrod and Jehediah; and special family members, Keith and Mickey Dupree. The family wishes to thank all those at Baptist Memorials High Rise and Baptist Memorials Division 5 for filling her life with laughter and love. Memorials may be made to Baptist Memorial Hospice Center. Glenora left this world as she lived it...her own terms. Stubbornly hanging on to this earth until after Valentine's Day. We know it was her last gift to us. Family and friends may sign an online guest book at johnsons-funeralhome.com.

I had the privalage to volnteer at Baptist High Rise. At this I got to meet Glenora and work with her. I admired her with her strong independence as others called stubborn. She will be missed but never forgotten. I decided to persue a career in medical after I got to work with her. She will be missed but never forgotten. My prayers and thought go out to all the family.
