Not sure what to say?

It is New Year's Eve Night and unfortunately I was out of town for Mrs. H's funeral. This is the night that will always be ingrained in my memory as the night to go to the Houghton's House. Mr and Mrs H. would always put up with the worst group of miscreants like me who would descend on their house with cherry bombs and other crazy things and celebrate the New Year.

And when it was not New Years we loved to just descend on the house and see what trouble we could get into. I will...

It's always encouraging and inspiring to hear of people like Miss Gloria.... I did not know her, but I can believe that she would have been a pleasure to have known and to have learned from.... God you Miss Gloria!! Sharon Fairweather

Gloria was my English teacher at Orlando Junior College. She was a great teacher and wonderful person. I will never forget her.

Gloria inspired me like no other teacher in my life. She encouraged me to be creative, to think outside the box even as she defined the dimensions of the “box”, and explained why the box was relevant in the first place. My life-long passion for cogent, intelligent, and poetic writing found its genesis in her classroom. These are tools I have strived to pass along to my children and to any I mentor. For me, the gift of critical thinking and expression are Gloria’s greatest legacy to her...

"Gloria was an active player, with a capital 'A', on the World stage. Please forgive the previously submitted missive which omitted the world 'player'/-know that Gloria would want a correction made...Randy Moore, friend since 1965. (I am able to send e-mail ; yet, am unable to receive same.)

Dear Frank, an addenda:
" to be or not to be?"
Gloria certainly answered this question in the affirmative!
Gloria's 'being' was chock-full of wondrous and diverse interests:
From devoted wife to dynamic teacher,
From super mom to super friend,
From Shakespeare to Dickens,
From Queen Victoria to Galileo's wife,
From Wedgwood china to Teddy Bears,
From playing Bridge to sailing under the Tower Bridge,
From traveling the world to the...

Dear frank and the houghton family, please accept my deepest sympathies. Gloria will always be remembered by those who have had the privilege of being in her presence. She was a truly gifted individual who had a tremendous impact on the lives of her many friends and her students. It would take a book; no, several books to adequately describe Gloria's uniqueness. Generosity toward others, and energetic pursuit of life. My memories of Gloria and her great husband,Frank, and their collective...

Mrs. Houghton was my favorite teacher! She was dramatic, inspirational and she really knew how to get kids to learn. I remember so many projects that we completed in her class: making mead and designing a room were two of my favorites. College humanities was a breeze after Mrs. Houghton's class. My thoughts and prayers are for Mrs. Houghton and her family at this time.

"O call back yesterday, bid time return" so that I might say goodbye to my teacher. She taught so she would relive her passion in the classics and made it come alive for us. How can you forget the meade? David Copperfield? Writing? New York? London? Shakespeare? "Fair thoughts and happy hours attend on you," I would say to her who ignited a tiny flame of fondness for Trinity, the classics, and made us believe we could carry on the same. We love you, we will miss you, our Mary Poppins of TP.
