Heritage Funeral Home and Cremation Services - Sioux Falls Obituary

Gloria Norrine Potthoff, 93, passed peacefully into her Savior’s arms on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021. Gloria was the fifth and youngest child of Nordahl and Anna Rude of Eau Claire, WI, born on July 19, 1927. Before being married to Walt for 51 years, Gloria worked as a bookkeeper and a secretary. She spent her life raising their two daughters—Julie and Wendy, serving at church, and loving her husband well. Gloria loved being a grandma to her five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She loved to sing and worship Jesus, which she did through choir and worship at church, and loved to make friends and tell them about her Lord whenever the opportunity arose. She is singing her “glorias” in His presence right now!

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents Nordahl and Anna Rude, husband Walter Potthoff, sisters Arline Rude and Joyce (Dick) Boehlke, and brothers John and Julius Rude. Gloria leaves behind her daughters, Julie (Blane) Dooner, and Wendy (David) Olson, grandchildren—Samuel (Mihaela), Elisa, Amelia, Josiah, and Micah, great-granddaughters, Clara and Elora, and nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed.

Not sure what to say?

Wendy, my heart breaks reading this but I know she is safe with Jesus. You were the best daughter ever and I wo t forget her or how much she liked her chocolate coffee. Love and hugs, Lynne Reuter

I am sorry to hear of Your mom passing away! But now she is in God’s presence which is the best blessing of all! My sympathy to all of you! May God give you His peace knowing she is in His arms now! Sincerely, Keith Olson

To Julie, Wendy and families,
I have many wonderful memories of Gloria and Walt. They were a big presence when I was growing up. Gloria was my Godmother and always paid special attention to me. I loved them both and was sorry to hear of her passing. Our deepest condolences. Heaven has another beautiful soul.
Bill

Sending hugs, prayers and love,
Jo-Anne

We are grateful for the wonderful time we got to spend with you. We loved your smile and your happy spirit.

I would like to share my thoughts and memories of my dear friend Gloria.

Gloria was my dear friend. We shared 25 years of singing side by side in our church choir. Lutheran Church of Peace in Maplewood, where sang together for many occasions: Palm Sundays, Easter Sunday, and most Sundays at the 10:30 Services. We also sang together with the Washington County Choir, and St. Olaf College mass choir.
I will miss our many telephone conversations.
Gloria loved her...

On behalf of Aseracare, May you find Peace and Comfort in God's loving arms.

Gloria was my Dad's first cousin and one of the few remaining relatives of her generation and will be missed by all our family (Paul and Fern Rasmussen and children Sally, Carol and Tom and their families too)
