3 guys from my office and Gordon took an incentive flight to Travis, AFB. We landed and headed for Circus Circus so Gordon could wager. On the way back we had to make an emergency landing in Colorado Springs. They landed a little rough and burned out the brakes. We were stranded for a week. When we arrived early in the day there were no rooms ready until 3pm. So we wandered around Colorado Springs in uniform carrying our luggage. Gordon would ask me to think of some excuse for us to leave the office and go to Base Ops. I came up with some lame quest to get maps. It worked we were out. He always bought me breakfast and then we played pinball. I told him I thought we were gone to long and should be heading back, but he said no we can't leave I have free games on the machine. We stayed until the freebies were gone.

When Gordon showed up at Loring, AFB as our new boss we were unsure of what he would be like. We were all Airmen he was a Major, he walked into the office and told us he had 2 rules. #1 I don't care what time you guys show up, but when I show up I want coffee to be made or in the process of being made. #2 No one is to bother me until I finish the crossword puzzle. We all breathed a sigh of relief, we could work under these rules. First time I met Gordon.......Fond memories.
