Gordon S. "Mickey" Dowd

WEST COLUMBIA: Services for Gordon S. “Mickey” Dowd, 70, will be held 3 p.m., Monday, December 4, 2006 at St. David Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. James E. Laurence, interment to follow in church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. David Lutheran Church Building Fund, 132 St. David’s Church Road, West Columbia, SC 29170.

Mr. Dowd passed away Saturday, December 02, 2006. Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late George Herman and Thelma Lorick Dowd of Johnston, SC. A life long area resident, he retired from Mac Kohn Printing, after many years of loyal service. Mickey was an active and dedicated member of St. David Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Lutheran Men’s organization, the Young at Heart Group and the David’s Sunday school Class. Mr. Dowd served on the Evangelism committee and as the co-chair of the Usher Committee. He previously served as a member of the Church Council. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He will be dearly missed.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 50 years, Ann Walton Dowd of West Columbia are sons and daughter-in-law, Gordon Stanley Dowd, Jr. and his wife Christine Dowd of Columbia; Russell Brent Dowd of Collierville, TN; brother and sister-in-law, James Keller and Joanne Dowd of West Columbia; grandchildren, Jenna Elizabeth, William Adam, Zachary Scott, Megan Christine, and Cassidy Elena Dowd. Mr. Dowd was preceded in death by brothers George Herman Dowd and Grover C. Dowd.
