As Patrick says the Norfolk Broads indeed witnessed a memorable and suitably mad holiday freed from the restrictions of boarding school life. I doubt if many sailors have dropped the mast so dramatically and precipitously on realizing that they were literally seconds from passing under a low bridge! I was so very very saddened to hear of Gordons death - we were close friends at Downside together and when we were 17 together with Richard Henry the three of us had an epic, legendary and unforgetable week together sailing the Norfolk Broads (1960?).After we left school we all went our own ways and somehow lost touch -
for years I had thought to get back in touch and am so sad not to have done so - we would have had a lot of laughs.
