Heritage Funeral Home and Cremation Services - Sioux Falls Obituary

Gordon Keith Combs Geick son of Melvin Henry and Mae (Fallis) Geick passed away at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday March 2, 2022, at the age of 91. Gordon was born in Doon, IA on January 6, 1931.

Funeral services will take place at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church with a luncheon and burial to follow.  Family will be present for visitation from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home on Monday, March 7, 2022.

Gordon grew up and attended school in Rock Rapids, IA. He joined the Navy and served as a corpsman attached to the Marines during the Korean War from 1948-1952. After being honorably discharged he met and married the love of his life Beverly Miller. They made their home in Canton SD. They later moved to Sioux Falls. They had four children Donald, Gary, Cindy, & Kory.

Gordon was employed at the V.A health care in Sioux Falls for 40 years. After retiring he went on to work for John Morrell as maintenance. He had a zest for life and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and building things. Most of all he loved going for drives to the river or Rock Rapids, but of course he wanted someone else to drive. He never liked to drive (to much country side to see). He survived many a health crisis and was the first open heart done in South Dakota. Gordy was a very giving, loving man, and his family was his reason for living. He loved big family get togethers and baking everyone’s favorite dessert.

Gordon is survived by his daughter Cindy (Ricky) Boehrns of Sioux Falls and his son Kory Geick of Tulsa, OK. He is also survived by his grandchildren Nichole (Paul Walter) Galbavy of Groton, SD, Devin (Sara) Fodness of Sioux Falls, SD, Dartanyen Geick, Trinity Geick, and Brayden Geick. Also being blessed to share his life are his great grandchildren Chantalle Galbavy, McKenna Fodness, and Sunshine Fodness.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Beverly and his sons Donald and Gary.

Not sure what to say?

I worked with Gordy at the VA pharmacy. He was thorough with his work at a technician. Cindy, I will miss seeing you and Gordy at the VA. Hugs and prayers to you and your family.

Gordy was a dear friend, fellow hunter of pheasants (back in the day), tough and a loving buddy. He and Bev were a perfect match. We had lots of fun.
He will be missed by many. Rest in peace.

Prayers to all of family, awesome man who always had a smile on his face.

We will miss you at Big Stone Lake
