GILBERT, Gordon W. - Of Genesee, age 78, died Thursday, January 19, 2006 at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc. Funeral service will be held at 12 Noon Monday, January 23, 2006 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Jim Harvey officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation 1-8PM Sunday at the funeral home. Gordon was born in Stanton, Michigan on March 4, 1927 and lived in the Flint area most of his life. He married Whitney on February 14, 1981. Gordon served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was employed at General Motors, Fisher Body Plant, retiring in 1987 with almost 38 years of service. Surviving are wife, Whitney; children, Paul (Sandy) Gilbert, Marcy Issac, Gary Gilbert, Charmaine Gilbert, Larry Gilbert, Kim and Bud Gronds; step-children, Kevin (Sherry) Stanton, Joe (Dawn) Stanton, Jim (Christina) Stanton, Joy (Paul) Reeser, Melissa Lafayette and Debbie (Joe) King; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; his best friend, Fido Winn; brothers and sisters and his church family. He was preceded in death by 2 children, Terry and Cathy Deace.
