Not sure what to say?

I know as a cheerleader I always felt the coach was my coach, too. He was a great teacher, and a wonderful role model! My condolences to his family and loved ones! He will be greatly missed!

My prayers go out to Coach Kent's family and all who knew and loved him...he helped and touched so many hearts through the years. I personally can't look at a donut without hearing the term "sinker" in my head. After 31 years in the military and homes in many time zones I can honestly say that as a parent with kids involved in sports from 1986 to the present, no one has matched the savy and dedication of Coach Kent and others at MIHS...wish I'd had a chance to say that to him personally. ...

To the family of "Coach " Kent:
Coach will be greatly missed and we are deeply sorry for your loss. Coach was a friend to everyone he met and always in a good mood. Merritt Island won't be the same without him and we will miss him very much.
With all our sympathy

To the family of the Kent's, sorry for the lost of such a great man. I will always remember him as "coach" (cross country). One of the best of all time.

I met Coach in 1984 when I moved to Florida from New Mexico. I moved here to work for my late stepdad, Dick Smith, owner of the NAPA store "Smith Motor Supply". Coach was a regular customer at our NAPA store, & I became close friends with him, because of his long standing friendship with Dick Smith. I was always surprised that wherever I stopped in Merritt Island, Cocoa or Cocoa Beach, I would run into Coach. He never forgot a face or a name. He was always like a father/grandfather type of...

I met Coach Kent when I began flying Model Airplanes at Speed Contests. After reading the many entries here I feel that what ever Coach touched was made better by his involvement in it be it work, sports, or hobbies. He will be greatly missed at our contests where he was always willing to help in any way he could.

In memory of one of the finest men I have every known. Coach Kent was a mentor and a friend, taking me as well as many others under his wing. I remember his many lessons in life on the track, they last a life time. I can hear his voice now yelling "don't eat that pogy bait". How many of us have heard that? I once asked him if I could go surfing and skip track practice (surf 6-8) and he said "get in a good workout". The many fishing trips up on North Banana river and subsequent dinners...

Coach Kent was a very special person who was always there for us. I will never forget his kind and generous ways and his iron will. Coming into a losing football/track program and getting it turned around to a winner is not an easy job! I got to spend 3 wonderful years with Coachum Kent at MI and had gotten to see him the last ten years at the re-unions and when I came to visit the Island. We would get together and go to eat at Fat Boys. Coach had true grit and a heart as big as the sky. ...
