To Kris, Eric and Ambler: I have many fond memories of our lives on Portico Drive while we lived next door so many years ago. I just happened to find your Dad's obituary and learned that Mary has also passed. I loved them both, and they were such an inspiration to me. This world is a better place for their having been here. Sympathy to all of you.

Cousin Gordon once saved my life - at Holden Beach, North Carolina in the early 1960s. I had drifted too far from shore; he noticed and brought me in. He was a fine person, as was his first wife, Cousin Mary, and he was the last of my parents' generation of family members who gave me so much in my childhood. My dad, Jim Burns, passed away at the same age (92) last December. Rest in peace and glory.

Gordon was a dear friend and wonderful man of God. He lived a godly and blessed life and I know that he is now reaping the benefits of knowing Jesus by sitting at His feet today. Prayers and blessings to all of the family. I'll see you again one day!
