Andrews Mortuary and Crematory - Market Street Chapel - Wilmington Obituary

Dee Reddick, owner of Redix of Wrightsville Beach, passed away on April 26th, 2025.  He was born in Alamance County, NC on September 11th, 1944 to Gordon D. Reddick Jr. and Kathryn Reddick. He was a high school graduate of The Baylor School in Chattanooga, TN where he excelled in baseball and wrestling. He continued his sports career at The Citadel in Charleston, SC class of 1966.

Working with his father as a young man, he developed a strong work ethic, dedication and a sense of pride in every endeavor. Dee was a devoted husband, father, brother, friend, and was always a present figure in their lives.  Opening Redix in W.B. in 1969, Dee’s impact extended far beyond his family.  Over the course of more than fifty years, he devoted himself to mentoring and developing others, teaching countless individuals how to grow into successful and principled men and women.  His patient leadership had a lasting impression on those who had the privilege of working alongside of him.

Dee lived a life of integrity, kindness, generosity with a keen sense of humor, and one hell of a dancer. His legacy of strength, kindness and leadership will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, colleagues and the countless lives that he touched.

He is survived by his wife of almost 42 years, Sue Parks Reddick, his children Daniel (Claire), Laura Mackey (Levi), Gordon, and Meredith; his three grandsons, Wiley & Graham Reddick and Hunter Mackey.

A celebration of life will be held at the Olympia Restaurant in Wilmington on Wednesday, April 30th between 5-8.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canines for Service, Nourish NC or Boys & Girls Homes of NC.

Not sure what to say?

Sue, I was so sorry to hear about Dee's death. It was my privilege to know both of you and your children while i was pastor at the Little Chapel on the Boardwalk and I am grateful for many ways in which you supported Rachel, Micol and myself during my time there. I pray that God may continue to comfort, guide and strengthen you and all of the family in your sorrow. Huw

Dear Sue, I was out of town when Dee passed away. I heard about his passing at our last Aldermen Meeting ( May 8). Mayor Mills said many kind words about Dee. I wanted to let you know I am thinking about you and your family. I was very touched when I read his obituary and what a wonderful man he was. I know you had some wonderful years together building a wonderful family and longtime business at Wrightsville Beach. Hope to see you soon. Kindest Regards, Zeke Partin

In our life, we only have a few people that make an inpact for life, and Mr. Reddick is one of the few that made a life impression. I can share so many wonderful experiences working at Redix starting when I was 15 years old till I graduated college. There are so many wonderful stories, but as a 15 year old, I was trusted to show up at 6 AM, have everything stocked, the displays set up outside, the parking lot cleaned, the cash register draws in place, and we were ready to do business by 7...

We all worked for dee at some point in time.reddog, goatman, skeet, frank waters, tank, garland,Stanley, miss miller, fat rat,Donna,we really enjoyed our time there.tank and i went on a buying trip to South Carolina in what used to be a merrita bread truck.i could not believe what dee bought.who is going to buy this?boy was I wrong. If i left some one out let me know.rip my friend.

Great Boss!

Dear Sue and Reddick family - I worked for Dee in the 80’s and actual went to his and Sue’s wedding - I worked there for 5 years and felt part of the family - my parents Bobby and Marjorie Way lived on Seacrest and Dee and staff were always so kind to both of them in their old age - thank you! Rest in Peace.

Dear Sue, Daniel, Laura, Gordon, and Meredith,

We were saddened to hear of Dee's passing. We hope that your faith, and the love of family and friends will help you through this difficult time.
