Mr. Rutledge was the epitome of the great man. He was a fabulous educator and friend. He never forgot his students or their parents. He even attended their retirement parties. One of the best gifts of friendship I enjoyed with him. I enjoyed talking with him as we shopped for groceries and I loved that he always asked about my husband and children. Mr. R. was very special in so many ways. I am so glad I was a part of his Layne faculty where he took care of all the children, and was truly a family oriented person. He was always there when someone needed him. Rest in peace, dear friend--you deserve it.
