Gordon is my cousin and we grew up together in Brooklyn a short walk from each other's house. We were alter boys, swim team members and good friends. I was in his wedding party when he first married Susie. We stayed in touch for awhile however over time stopped communicating. He is part of my experience and will always be fondly remembered. I am grateful for the life of Mr. Scholes. Thanks to his service and to the service of others in our armed forces, my family and I have been able to lead our lives in freedom and peace.

When I think of first meeting Gordon, his warm, wonderful smile, comes to mind. "Please, call me Gordon"! We felt so welcomed into their home. We shared an amazing Christmas feast, he had prepared for friends and family. He made our family a part of his. A generous man..

Gordon was a creative man who was a friend. He was both fun to be with and funny. In business he was a professional in every way. He deserves to be in the Carpet Hall of Fame.
