Mr. Smith always "scolded" an upper-classman during the assembly on the first day of school to ensure that all the freshmen would be intimidated. It worked - there were no discipline problems in his classes. One day in class he asked a student if he wanted to go to the principal's office, and of course the student behaved at once.
