Gordon Stallings Obituary

Rev. Gordon Stallings, of Chattanooga, departed this life Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, at the age of 99. He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Ardell Stallings; a daughter-in-law, Mildred Stallings; and son-in-law, Charles Shutters. Rev. Stallings faithfully ministered the gospel for 67 years, including 32 years as a pastor. His pastorates included Cumberland Mtn., Newport, South Pittsburg, Chattanooga, Maryville, McMinnville, Sevierville, Bristol as well as associate pastor at Ooltewah Church of God. At most of those pastorates he built new facilities. Rev. Stallings served on the Tennessee State Council and was chairman of the State Music Board for several years. Many souls were won to the Lord under his ministry. He is survived by his two sons, Edmon Stallings (Florence), Norman Stallings (Pat); daughter, Mildred Shutters; seven grandchildren, Tabitha Stallings, Teena Stallings, Sherry Roberts, Kim Whitener, Terry Shutters, Marc Stallings, Chrystal Stallings; seven great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 31, 2016, in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Fuller Cemetery, Ider, Ala. The family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 30, 2016, at the funeral home. God's greatest blessing are now yours Brother Stallings. You are HOME where you have always longed to be. You were a man that I rarely got to see but I always had great admiration for you and looked up to you as a Friend, Church Leader and a true Godly Man. We will miss you but we will see you again. Give Sister Stallings a big hug for all of us.
