Not sure what to say?

Nine years past, I still miss Gorman deeply. He inspired me to give the best I could to others and have open conversations with our Savior. The gift of his friendship is still treasured today.

Another year. May god rest his soul

Thank you Mr. Duffett .

Gorman gave in inspiratory valedictory speech when he graduated Brooklyn high school in 1956. I just happened to be a member of the school band in ninth grade and was quite impressed by his desire to become a diplomat. He expressed himself beautifully and with great dignity. There was a part of me listening at the time that said I could and would like to do that because it had to with following your dreams. I feel badly for those who dont have a graduation this year and will not be inspired...

Don Apostle,

Although, I am not a biological member of the Duffett family, I am an extended family member of Gorman's. It doesn't surprise me that he inspired you in 1956, because he inspired and helped so many. He was a collector of things, as well as, a collector of people. He was good, even earning him the nickname Good Man Gorman. He would have been tickled to know that his speech from 1956 made a difference. He is extremely loved and missed!

Respectfully,
Tracy Robinson

Gorman was valedictorian at Brooklyn High in 1956 and I was a freshman in the band that evening. I was so impressed about his speech about wanting to be a diplomat that I decided I wanted to be a valedictorian as well. I never met or spoke to him, but was the valedictorian in 1959 and am grateful for his example. Don Apostle, MD BHS '59

Gorman Duffett was a friend of mine through Christ Church, Shaker Heights. Sundays, during the morning service, I often look at the pew where he and Marvin Peek would sit together and think of them both. Gorman was a good and decent man.

My expressions of condolences and all of the fond memories of Gorman are long overdue. He was a man of faith and integrity. He introduced me to academic librarianship when I wasn't sure I could succeed in that arena. More than anything, I'll remember his candor, Godly will, and concern for his fellow person. Duffett family, you have been truly blessed. Stay prayerful and faithful.
