Mrs. Grace Adele (Nee: Ruhl) Adams passed away peacefully at her home, Wednesday, April 27, 2022. She was born August 11, 1931 in Marshalltown, IA, to the late John and Clara (Nee: Bode) Ruhl. She had reached the age of 90 years.


Grace married the love of her life, Edward Adams, September 17, 1955, in Marthasville, MO. They spent 66 wonderful years together and to this union, 4 children, Paul, Doug, Tom and Cheryl were born. She received her masters degree from Eden Theological Seminary. She was a faithful member of The First Washington United Methodist Church. Grace worked as the choir director and organist for many years. Music was her passion throughout her entire life. She taught piano lessons from her home and she also sang in the community choirs in Washington. She was most proud of her work as an advocate for people with developmental disabilities.


Grace was preceded in death by her parents, John and Clara; daughter, Cheryl Adams; sister, Irene Carr. She is survived by her beloved husband Edward; her children, Paul Adams and wife Betsy, Doug Adams, Tom Adams and wife Jody; grandchildren, Paula Govey and husband Peter, Nicole Adams, Darius Namazi, Dane Adams; great grandchildren, Benjamin Govey; siblings, Alice Heine, Joanne Kisling and husband Eugene, Wilma Zeh and husband Wayne; sister in law, Ruby Knepp; many other family and friends.


We will Celebrate the Life of Grace Adele Adams, Friday, April 29, 2022, 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Martin Funeral Home in Marthasville, MO. A graveside service will follow the next day, Saturday, April 30, 2022, 10:00 AM at St Paul's UCC Cemetery in Marthasville, MO. Nancy and I extend our condolences of the passing of Grace. When I looked that the photos I am reminded so much of our family and the similar cars and trips to the west. Grace reminded me so much of Nancy.
