Grace Ellen Peterson

Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry I missed this. Grace and I were very good friends back when we were 15 or so. We met at the frozen Lombard Lagoon on ... Grace Street ... in Lombard. It was a magical winter when we met. I recall her rosy red cheeks as we skated around and talked and laughed. She was beautiful. Her first car had some crazy push buttons on the dash transmission . She was my first girlfriend. We dated for a while, fell apart, and came back together for a very short time during...

I met Grace during in-service in Springfield & renewed our friendship when she moved to Carmi & I would go to visit my academy mate Dottie Wilborn. She was one of a kind-Cool, calm when the heat was on-then go out & jump on her BMW and let it go-a private person at times- but fun to be around.

I worked with Grace for almost ten years at District 19 in Carmi. She was a unique person. I remember her composed demeanor and calm radio voice. She seemed like a compasionate person, fond of animals and the simple pleasures of life.
