Not sure what to say?

I am posting to say that, the year is 2024, and I still miss my Mamaw Wesson very much.❤
XO Mamaw! Love, Alicia

An addendum to my earlier entry:
Mammaw Wesson was a special person to me. It is not often that one can have a relationship that transforms from the grandmother-granddaughter relationship of childhood to one that is shared by 2 adults, but in our case that did occur.
I have wonderful memories from early childhood of staying with Mammaw and Babbaw Wesson in the house on Peach street and eating at their BBQ ...

My Grandmother (known as Mamaw Wesson to me) was a strong woman, who loved her family very much. She weathered many hardships over her lifetime, and met these challenges with a mixture of courage, determination, wisdom, and a wonderful sense of humor.
She had a knack for managing people, as was evidenced in her positions as Hostess and waitstaff manager at Hogates restaurant, in Washington, D.C., head of the housekeeping departments at the hospital in Shelby, N.C., at Limestone...

MOTHER WAS A MOST UNIQUE PERSON TO SAY THE LEAST. SHE ALWAYS SEEMED TO PRECEIVE THINGS EXACTLY LIKE THEY WERE, AND NOT LIKE YOU WISHED THEY WERE! SHE TRY TO INSTILL THIS IN WE CHILDREN.
EARLY ON IN MOTHERS DISEASE, AT A TIME SHE WAS HAVING DIFFICULTY ACCEPTING IT, I EXPLAINED TO HER MANY,MANY TIMES THE SYMPTONS AND ALL I KNEW ABOUT ALZHEIMERS. ONE DAY SHE ASK ME FOR THE "100TH TIME" WHY SHE WAS IN THE NURSING HOME AND I VERY PATIENTLY EXPLAINED IT AGAIN.
NO SHORT TERM...

Grace Wesson

Grace Wesson, is my maternal Grandmother, but I always called her "Mamaw". I have so many good memories and good feelings of Mamaw Wesson and the times we shared that there are far too many to mention here. However, I will list at least a few.

As a young child, some of my warmest and fondest memories are of going to spend the night with Mamaw and Babaw (Ray Wesson, Sr.). This was always on a weekend night. We all turned into night owls on these occasions. It was always such a special...

I look back fondly on the friendship that Mrs. Wesson shared with my grandmother Rachael Allison Roberts. The two were neighbors on Martin Street in Shelby. There was an informal but cohesive group of widows who visited often and looked out for one another in that quiet little neighborhood. Our family was also friends and schoolmates of the Bridges kids when we were growing up. I join you in celebrating Mrs. Wesson's life.

It has been years since I have seen Mrs. Wesson I lost contact with her after she closed the sandwich shop in Shelby. She was extremely kind to us. Joan I think of you often. Love Betty Ruth

The snowy hair, the "winky" eyes, the cinnamon and peppermint candy in the bowls-- thanks for the happy memories, Mrs. Wolf...
