Not sure what to say?

Dr. Grady C. Cothen was my friend, mentor and boss. I became his friend and later became a trustee at Oklahoma Baptist University at the same Dr. Cothen became President of OBU. We actually went through orientation together. I was a Trustee. He was the President. In 1981 he brought me to the Baptist Sunday School Board now Lifeway as a member of his Executive Staff. This man had a huge impact on my life!

While I only met Dr. Cothen briefly, I worked with his son, Grady Cothen, for many years in his role as a senior staff member of the federal government. His integrity and rectitude and patience certainly speaks well of his dad.

Grady - just learned of your father's passing from Hopper. Please accept my sincere condolences. Your father lived a long and fruitful life. You can be proud of the great man he was.

A Good and Great Man

It is a wonderful thing when a great man is also a good man, and Grady Cothen was both. He was full of wisdom and integrity, and he was a very gifted leader. New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary was in a state of disarray when he arrived in 1970, and it was stable and healthy when he left four years later. At or near the top of his accomplishments at the Sunday School Board was that that he launched the publication of Bibles; it was certainly appropriate for the world's largest Christian...

Dr. Grady Cothen impacted my life in ways only a very few others have. I am truly grateful to have known him as mentor and friend.

To the family, I am so sorry for the loss of your loved one. How wonderful and amazing that he was able to live such a long life! While this is a difficult time to endure, please find comfort in the promise at Jeremiah 29:12,13. Knowing that he will listen to you can be very strengthening.

Congratulations to the family of Grady Cothen come more naturally to me than condolences upon his death. He lived a rich and full life and now has gone to rest with his own fathers and await the grand reunion of those who still live on this side. Grady was my BSSB president, who was also my friend and enabler in the years we shared in Nashville. I'm grateful for his life and that God planned an amazing maze that brought me into it as I shared that life.
