Not sure what to say?

Grady was a friend and coworker until he retired. I was a news photographer and he would make me feel special when requesting a photographer to accompany him to an interview. He would tell Russ Shaw I want the best, send Gongora. He knew how to make people special. Grady was a true professional.

Grady was not exactly what youd call flashy, but he was probably among the best reporters the Caller-Times ever had; a far better professional than I even hoped to be. As far as that quiet respect that was always extended to him by his employers, I seriously wonder if he had many peers, even though he worked alongside many colleagues who went on to national recognition and importance, and, like me, considered it a privilege to work alongside him.

I am sadly touched by the exit of a community friend. To: Mr. Phelps and family -
I would like to add to his obituary what I feel.
Mr. Phelps has been awarded
"Excellence in Role Modeling for writers and Corpus Christi community citizens."
